Cryolite Synthetic Cryolite
Molecular formula: Na3AlF6 Molecular weight: 209.94 CAS NO.: 13775-53-6
Physical and chemical properties: Cryolite is a crystalline white powder. It is slightly soluble in water, with a density of 2.95~3.0 and a melting point of about 1000°C. It is easy to absorb water and damp, and can be decomposed by strong acids such as sulfuric acid and hydrochloric acid to produce hydrofluoric acid and corresponding aluminum and sodium salts.
Function and use: Mainly used as a cosolvent for aluminum electrolysis, and also as a wear-resistant additive for grinding products, which can effectively improve the wear resistance and cutting force of the grinding wheel, prolong the service life and storage time of the grinding wheel; flux for ferroalloy and boiling steel, non-ferrous metal flux , casting deoxidizer, olefin polymerization catalyst; and anti-reflective coating for glass, opalescent agent for enamel, floating whitening agent for glass, flux for welding materials, filler in ceramic industry, resin, wear-resistant in rubber industry fillers, insecticides for pesticides, etc. At the same time, the new cryolite developed by the company in recent years is also used in industrial fields such as cement concrete accelerators, admixtures, and chemical fertilizers.
